A LIFETIME OF EXPERIENCE

A lifetime of experience

Born in Enfield, the young James attended boarding school at Whitney in Oxfordshire, before senior school at Central Foundation, Moorgate (the City of London's oldest grammar school, founded in 1874).

He pursued a career in property for the next 40 years, working in a senior capacity for a number of North London's leading estate agents, including Sturt & Tivendale's flagship Totterridge Lane office in Whestone (this later became known as Black Horse Agencies after a Lloyds Bank take-over), Taylor & Melhuish which would later become Freeth Melhuish, after a merger. In more recent years James has worked as a freelance Property Consultant for T.P.S. in Barnet, Herts.

Accustomed to a degree of public speaking in the course of his property career, and recognised within the profession for his supreme organisational skills, it seemed a natural progression that James should join the world of 'Toastmastering'. This he did in 2005, since which time he has become firmly established on the wedding and corporate 'circuit' - bringing to the role his distinctive, and innovative style (certainly more amusing and less formal than many of his counterparts). James, always famed for his humour, brings that happy blend of whimsy and fun, to what is essentially an important, semi-serious role.

His professionalism, flair and attention to detail shine through and he has swiftly built up a following in North London and the home counties, happily enjoying repeat business from former clients on the corporate front, as well as attracting the younger element on the wedding scene. He also enjoys excellent music and 'show-biz' connections from his days in the commercial and property world.

Past 'roles' include:

  • Toastmaster at the 2005 'society' wedding of Edward Lonsdale and Claire Mowat at The Old School House, Drayton Beauchamp Tring.
  • Master of Ceremonies at the V.I.P. 'Presidents Luncheon' at the 2007 Herts County Show, at Redbourne.
  • Master of Ceremonies at the lavish Summer Ball of St. Joseph's In The Park private school, Hertingfordbury, Herts.
  • Toastmaster at the 2007 wedding of Spencer Reynolds and Laura Moffett at Down Hall Country House Hotel at Sawbridgeworth.
  • Toastmaster/M.C. at 2008 wedding of Captain Darren Woolnough to Annie Brown at The Sandhurst Military Academy Chapel and, subsequently, at Wentworth Golf Club, Surrey.

When time and occasion permit, James loves to pursue his number one hobby of participating in club and pub quizzes, and to date has appeared on television games shows on no less than 6 occasions, spanning a 25 year career. Appearances include:

  • Tell The Truth (1983)
  • One To Win (1996)
  • No Win, No Fee (1998)
  • The Weakest Link (2001)
  • Eggheads (2007)

Never a shrinking violet, and always happy to be 'at the helm', James will oversee your special occasion or event, in his inimitable style. You will certainly be in good hands, and are assured of a splendid, most memorable day.

Make sure your event goes with a bang.
